The Road and Bridge Research Institute (www.ibdim.edu.pl, email: ibdim@ibdim.edu.pl) is a state owned, self-financed, research and development organisation reporting to the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Economy. The Institute is involved in projects concerning construction and maintenance of the transport infrastructure, particularly: roads and road bridges, railway subgrade, railway bridges, road and other pavements and underground structures. The Institute's research covers materials, methods, equipment, organisation and economic problems, issues of environment protection, management strategies and others. The Institute's activities include also the creation of Polish standards, instructions and specifications, issues of approval and quality certificates of new materials and methods for road and bridge construction, editing of periodic and standalone publications, organisation of conferences and courses. The Institute is acting on the basis of the Act of 30 April 2010 on research institutes.
